We’re back!

Wow has it been a crazy year! For all of us, and for so many reasons. So much has happened and changed that it’s hard to keep track of it all. Hard to believe it’s been almost a year since the launch of this website, and that this is the first blog post…better late than never I suppose!

Some very exciting things have been happening now that Washington has opened up again. Venues have reopened, and as a result, live music has finally returned! This past Saturday was my first show in 17th months, and boy is it good to be back on stage again!

One of the great things to come out of the pandemic for me was joining up with Turtlnck, a pop-jazz group dreamed up by Brittany Rogers and Alex Enger. If you haven’t heard their music yet, do yourself a favor and check them out now. Neglecting that, chances are good, you’ll hear it soon anyway :)

A fantastic first show back, and debut show as Turtlnck! Very grateful to be able to share the stage with such wonderful people and talented musicians. More in the works to come soon!

Additionally, in-person lessons are finally available again! Looking forward to being able to connect and work directly with students live again! I know it’s been hard for many of my students having everything be virtual this past year; music in isolation can feel empty and draining, particularly for those who are just getting started on their musical journeys. Here’s hoping that the reemergence of live musical experiences reinvigorates us all, and especially for those who will carry forth the future of music.

Online lessons have been great, and I feel very fortunate that I have been able to continue teaching throughout the pandemic. It was a learning experience for us all to be sure, but there were some definite benefits to the online format, despite the imperfections. Notably, flexibility of scheduling, location, commute, and sharing features have all been crucial this past year. I’ll be continuing to offer online lessons moving forward to anyone interested in continuing that format.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more exciting things to come! :)
